Christophina works the graveyard shift at a fast-food place in a luxury resort in space, living in a tiny apartment in a cheap neighborhood as she tries to scrape together enough money to get back to Earth on her own terms. On her off hours, she escapes to StarCity, a colorful virtual world where she can craft and sell wings and other avatar adornments and visit places that can’t physically exist.
Through her StarCity shop, she meets Ethan Weaver, a famous actor who’s shooting a film on the station. She assumes someone so gorgeous and successful is out of her league, but he doesn’t seem to think so. Together, they explore passions and pleasures through all that Celestia has to offer. Her life goes from a nightmare to a dream come true.
But when filming ends, Ethan will return to Earth and Christophina can’t afford to follow him. And when he’s gone, everything he brought to her life goes with him—no more intimate nights on soft beds, no more deep conversations over wine, and no more of his help with following her artistic dreams.
The best she can do is avoid thinking about the future and enjoy everything while it lasts.
And, whatever she does, try not to fall in love.
